Tony Bowden
International Agitator, mySociety
Tony Bowden is the international agitator for mySociety, the UK-based organisation that created TheyWorkForYou, WhatDoTheyKnow, FixMyStreet, etc. His role is to encourage and enable other groups and individuals to build similar transparency and accountability projects in their own countries, with a special focus on Central and Eastern Europe. He has been building web sites since before Netscape existed, and founded several of Northern Ireland’s leading internet companies before relocating to Estonia in 2006.
Jakub Górnicki

Recently worked for Mixxt.com as a corporate developer where he was primarily responsible for the Polish market as well as developing the platform on Central Eastern Europe. Jakub started as a journalist covering sports and youth issues in Poland before moving on to online activities in 2005 – he assisted in developing the Refugee.pl website for a Polish Humanitarian Organization and also became an evangelist for Prezi.com.
Combining journalistic and web experience he started KosmoShow, which aims to be a fully interactive talk show featuring people dealing with new media on a daily basis. Jakub blogs on KosmoReporter.com about challenges to old media and writes for Global Voices.
Elizabeth Métraux
Program Director and Social Media Consultant, PH International
Elizabeth Métraux works for PH International as the DOTCOM Program Director and PH’s consultant on social media. DOTCOM is a program designed to teach high school students from across the U.S. and the South Caucasus how to use social media for civic engagement. Her past professional experience has centered primarily around political campaign management and international humanitarian aid. She has worked in the U.S. House of Representatives, for the League of Arab States, the American Red Cross and in a number of regional non-governmental organizations in the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia. Her work has included direct relief, needs assessments of displaced populations and education on gender and religious based conflict.
Mathias Huter
Analyst, Transparency International
Mathis Huter is an analyst for Transparency International Georgia, where he focuses issues related to media development. Mathias holds a degree in Journalism and Media Management from FHWien, the University of Applied Sciences in Vienna, and an MA in International Relations and Conflict Management from Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies in Bologna, Italy, and Washington, DC. Mathias has several years of experience as a journalist, writing on media issues as well as on international relations for a number of European publications.

Andy Markowitz is the multimedia editor for Transitions Online (www.tol.org) and project manager for its partner site, Neweurasia (www.neweurasia.net). He is also a freelance editor and content wrangler and is currently developing a website and podcast devoted to music films. Andy is a former editor of Prague Daily Monitor, an online daily in the Czech capital, and City Paper, an award-winning alternative weekly in Baltimore, Maryland. He lives in Sheffield, U.K.
