SI Camp Show and Tell

On Saturday, April 10th, over 40 participants from Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia, working on six projects for 48 hours, finished up their presentations to prepare for the Show and Tell pitching competition where the teams demonstrated what they’ve built.

Main organizer and supporter of the Social Innovation Camp Caucasus, Open Society – Georgia Foundation decided to treat the Judges’ and the Public’s favorite projects with equal amount of cash prize – each $3000 to implement their projects.

Judges choose the Save The Trees idea as a winner and public attending the session, favored GiveMeInfo.

Save The Trees built an Ushahidi-based platform for citizens’ reports on illegal cutting of the trees in Armenia. idea submitted by environmental activist Mariam Sukhudyan. See the originally submitted idea.

Givemeinfo.ge team created a platform to generate cases of violation of right to access to information, also ranking public agencies based on how good or bad they are in giving out the information. See original idea.

HealthHush aimed at addressing a taboo in Azerbaijan and talking of sex with teens in local language, informing and consulting, spreading a word via facebook, twitter, sms and website. Original idea is here.

sCool created a platform for parents of school-kids interested in others’ experiences of different schools and enabling them to make an informed choice before taking their children to school. The project was meant to work in all three countries of Caucasus. See the originally submitted idea.

No Problem! built a website for hidden and ignored problems and news from Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia. Site would generate pre-moderated alerts submitted via website, twitter, facebook, sms and would map the trends based on Open Maps. Original idea is here.

Nature Speaks build a website aimed at making advocacy for defending environment more inclusive and effective by enabling users to share information, join campaigns, sign petitions and mobilize people. Read the full submission here.
